Today we played a game of rhyming concentration on the pocket chart. It was a lot of fun. Here are some great websites where your child can practise rhyming.

Enjoy!
The children were very busy again in the classroom. I think the cold weather and all the rain is preventing them from getting their energy out! Tomorrow we will play out on the big play structure as long as the weather is good.
This week we are learning about positional language. Many of the positional words are high frequency words like in, on, above, under or beside. Enjoy watching this movie about Mr. Bear and see if your child can read some of the sentences. You will need to pause the movie for them to have time to read the sentence – I am still figuring timing out!!!

Today we switched classrooms to best suit the needs of our students! In conversation with each other, Mrs. Morris and I discovered that I prefer teaching math and she prefers teaching printing so we switched classes for our circle time today. My class went to Mrs. Morris’s room and used her chalkboards to learn about printing the letter C. Mrs. Morris’s class came into our classroom and learned about making concrete graphs and pictographs. It was a lot of fun and we are hoping to do this again on Thursday. I wonder what letter you will learn to print with Mrs. Morris?
Just a quick note to let you know that I will not be in class on May 6th. I have been fighting a cold and have decided to give my voice a rest before it disappears. I should be back on May 7th. Mrs. Brown will be in to teach for me tomorrow and will most likely be doing some interesting graphs with you! See you soon! Love, Mrs. Gilchrist

Today we performed Beat of My Heart in our concert. Alicia was there and played the guitar. The children sounded fabulous. Thank you to all of you who came out to see us perform. I have included a video of the children singing the song in the classroom before the concert. They were much louder when practising. I think they became rather “star struck” when they were on stage!
